DMN Blog: Cowboys-Bears Flashback: Playoff pounding
I went with the worst loss in Cowboys' history yesterday, so I figured I'd better find a Cowboys blowout to balance things.
Let's go with the 37-7 rout in the first round of the 1977 playoffs. The Doomsday Defense began its dominant Super Bowl run by putting the clamps on Walter Payton and Co.
Strong safety Charlie Waters had perhaps the best game of his fine career, picking off three passes and forcing a fumble. D.D. Lewis set up touchdowns with an interception return and a fumble return.
"It's great," linebacker Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson said. "What I plan to do is to go out tonight and party. And then I'll forget it."
