Fantasy report: Romo the creme of the quarterback crop

It's hard to believe that the top fantasy football quarterback so far this season graduated from the same high school as my daughter-in-law, Katee.
That would be none other than Tony Romo, the pride of Burlington. That's Burlington, Wisconsin, not Iowa or Vermont.
While he couldn't even lead his high school teams to winning records in his junior and senior years, Romo has the Dallas Cowboys riding high with a 4-0 record, while putting up some incredible fantasy stats.
On Sunday, he completed 21 of 33 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown in a 35-7 win over St. Louis.
So far this season, the poised and accurate former star at Eastern Illinois has completed 72 of 121 passes for 1,199 yards, with 11 TDs and only three interceptions for a quarterback rating of 112.9.
In one of the three leagues I am in that awards six points for TD passes, six for scoring runs, one point for each 20 passing yards and minus two per interception, Romo has amassed 124 points, by far the most of any player at any position. The Colts' Peyton Manning is a distant second with 92, followed by the Patriots' Tom Brady with 90. The Packers' Brett Favre and, surprisingly, the Browns' Derek Anderson, are tied for fourth with 86.
Compare those rankings to ESPN's preseason quarterback rankings: 1, Manning; 2, Carson Palmer; 3, Drew Brees; 4, Tom Brady; 5, Marc Bulger.
Romo checked in at 11th in those rankings, but still good enough to land a cameo as a receptionist on an ESPN commercial. You've seen it haven't you?
He's sitting behind the desk in his No. 9 Cowboys uniform answering phone calls and taking messages for the sportscasters, reminding one passing by there's a staff meeting later that afternoon.
Funny stuff.
For me, the most surprising thing about Tony Romo is that I can't trade him. I drafted him as my backup in my son Pat's league, which I won last year, and I had been trying to deal him for a quality running back for the past week and have got no takers yet.
I felt he was expendable because my main quarterback, Brady, is also having a banner season.
But comparing the numbers, Romo is actually doing better, so maybe I'll rethink this.
Anybody want Brady?
