Felix Jones can run, but Dallas worried about his blocking

The Dallas Cowboys coaches are excited about rookie running back Felix Jones' potential in the passing game because of his big-play ability. But he has to be an adequate pass protector to play on third downs. And the question is, will Jones block well enough to protect Romo?

Wade Phillips downplays the concern about Marion Barber wearing down as the lead back in a two-horse system, but the Cowboys would be wise to limit No. 24's collisions. You'd rather have those happen when he has the ball in his hands instead of when he's picking up blitzers, although Barber is good at that aspect of the game.

RB coach Skip Peete says Jones needs to improve as a pass protector, but he believes that will happen. Jones is willing to stick his nose in there, which is half the battle. But his technique needs a lot of work. He didn't have his feet set when he met undrafted rookie Darrell Robertson on a pass play yesterday and got knocked sideways. Robertson didn't get to Romo, but a veteran NFL defender might have.
