TIDBIT: Romo brings swagger to Cleveland Sunday

BEREA — In just two years, Dallas’ Tony Romo has gone from an invisible backup quarterback to a Hollywood tabloid cover boy.
Dating singers Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson has helped, no doubt, but what first made Romo a star was his ability to throw the football and avoid being hit.
“I’ve played against him the last three years and I haven’t gotten him yet,” Browns linebacker Shantee Orr said Thursday. “It’s tough to do, though, because he’s a really good quarterback.”
Orr’s quest for that elusive sack will continue Sunday when the Cowboys open their season in Cleveland at 4:15 p.m.
Dallas also features star wide receiver Terrell Owens, controversial cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones and superb tight end Jason Witten, but everything it does starts with Romo.
“Tony has been in a situation where he’s been the backup, and obviously he’s gained that starting position and he’s relished that role,” Owens said. “I’m going to try to do whatever I can to make the plays for him.”
Conversely, the Browns will do all they can to make plays against Romo, who is 19-7 as a starter in the NFL. He also has made the Pro Bowl in both of his seasons at the helm and already ranks second in Dallas history with 10 300-yard games.
For a Cleveland defense that finished 30th in the league last season, those are some scary numbers. Or are they?
“Everybody will know the Browns are for real if we beat them,” nose tackle Shaun Smith said. “It’s just a matter of timing. We’re playing for something for real now. There is a little bounce in our steps, we’re excited.”
