DMN Blog: Eli has seen Phillips 3-4 before

The Cowboys' defense was awfully predictable under Bill Parcells. They played Cover 2 and relied on the front seven to stop the run. Eli Manning knows he won't see a whole lot of that with Wade Phillips running the show.

"These guys are aggressive," Manning said on a conference call. "They're trying to blitz, get to the quarterback, mixing up guys that are coming. We've got to do a good job of preparing."

This won't be the first time Manning faced the Phillips 3-4. His Giants got their butts kicked, 45-23, in San Diego a couple years ago. But you can't blame Manning, who had an outstanding performance in front of angry Chargers fans.

Manning completed 24 of 41 passes for 352 yards and two TDs without being intercepted that day. He was sacked only twice. Not his fault that the Giants couldn't tackle LaDainian Tomlinson.

"We have looked at that," Manning said, referring to the film from that game. "It was good to see how he tried to game-plan against us that year."
