NFC East District

1. Dallas Cowboys: A powerful team loaded with returning playmakers and more were added. The trade for Adam Jones adds a shutdown cornerback and premier return specialist. The draft added RB Felix Jones , CB Mike Jenkins and TE Martellus Bennett -- all potential playmakers. It's up to QB Tony Romo to get the ball to WR Terrell Owens and TE Jason Witten and win big games. If he does, the 'Boys will be the NFC's Super Bowl representative.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (wild card): They spent the offseason talking trade for a receiver, but have to hope second-rounder DeSean Jackson is the answer. WR Kevin Curtis got hurt in an exhibition. Free-agent CB Asante Samuel strengthens the secondary. Philadelphia's first five games include a stop at Dallas, and home against Pittsburgh and Washington.

3. New York Giants (wild card): Talk about winning with subtraction. They lost Tiki Barber , their best running back, to retirement and won the Super Bowl. Since then, DE Michael Strahan retired, TE Jeremy Shockey was traded and top pass rusher Osi Umenyiora (knee) was lost for the season. They are already off to a better start this season after beating the Redskins, 16-7, in the league opener on Thursday. The Giants started 0-2 in 2007 and made the playoffs, winning seven straight road games in the regular season and three during the playoffs. No repeat.

4. Washington Redskins: The big news wasn't an annual free-agent splurge, but in the coaching staff, where Joe Gibbs retired. Jim Zorn , former quarterbacks coach in Seattle, was hired first as offensive coordinator, then as coach during the interview process. QB Jason Campbell will have to adjust to a new system. The Skins will be hard-pressed to repeat last season's 9-7 record.
