DMN Blog: Local sleeper making rise (and more)

Local sleeper making meteoric rise

Those of you who listen to The Ticket are well aware of the greatness of Skin, but you probably don't know about his plans to enter the NFL draft.
The Ticket's Norm Hitzges, a serious sports guy, predicts that Skin (5-7, 142) could sneak into the bottom of the first round. I'm not quite that high on him. I think he'll slide to the Cowboys in the third.
Before you dismiss this, remember Everson Walls. Like Skin, he attended Richardson Berkner High but chose basketball over football. Walls panned out pretty darn well for the Cowboys, so I don't see any reason Skin won't as well once he figures out which position he plays.

For those of you with gambling problems

Some Cowboyscentric odds from bodog.com:
Will the Dallas Cowboy’s trade Julius Jones before the end of the 2007 NFL draft?
Yes +120
No -160
The Dallas Cowboys first round pick will be?
Cornerback +100
Wide Receiver -120
Any other position +200
I'm not even sure what those numbers mean. Anyone care to explain?

Ask Hall about Jarrett's speed

Above is footage of Dwayne Jarrett's final touchdown for USC. Even with the crappy camerawork, you can clearly see him toast Michigan's Leon Hall for a 62-yard TD. Jarrett spent the entire Rose Bowl abusing Hall, catching 11 passes for 205 yards and two TDs in a USC win.
Hall is projected to be the first or second CB picked in the draft. He'll be off the board by the midway point of the first round. Jarrett, on the other hand, might slip into the second round.
How could this be? It's all about the 40 time, of course.
Jarrett, who ran in the 4.6s (just like Jerry Rice), just isn't fast enough to be a big-time NFL receiver. Which must mean one of two things: Hall got a lot faster since the Rose Bowl, or Jarrett got a lot slower.
There's a chance the Cowboys could pick between three WRs in the first round: Jarrett and workout wonders Robert Meachem of Tennessee and Dwayne Bowe of LSU. Let's say it comes down to that, and Jerry calls for your opinion. Who do you take? Give me the guy who made the best CB in the draft look like a bum.
